Nose Job Surgery (Rhinoplasty)
The nose job surgery or rhinoplasty is a facial cosmetic surgery procedure designed to repair or to change the form of the nose. Your nose could be naturally misshapen or disproportionate, or you may have sustained an injury which has affected the shape of your nose. Whichever the case, surgery can sculpt a new shape to fit naturally within your face.
There are many variations of this procedure. The shape of the nose can be changed, the bridge repositioned, bumps removed, nostril shape shifted or the tip altered.
During the operation, the surgeon will normally make alterations by accessing your nasal shaft internally. Small incisions to the nostril base may also be required. Bone structure, and tissue can be manipulated to achieve the desired result. Following the procedure, a splint will be fitted to your nose to maintain the new shape and this should be worn for approximately a week.
The operation will take place under general anaesthetic, which means you will need to stay in hospital overnight. You will be advised to take a week off work and to spend the time resting at home to ensure a quick and complete recovery. Strenuous exercise should be avoided for a few weeks as should any situations in which the nose could get knocked or damaged before full healing has taken place.
There will be bruising and swelling around the nose and eyes for the first few days, but this will quickly subside, and pain can be eased with painkillers. Scarring will be minimal, due to the internal access and any small incisions will quickly fade.
Anesthesia
The Rinoplasty can be done with local or general anesthesia depending on the duration of the procedure and in what the patient and the surgeon consider necessary. With local anesthesia the patient is sedated in a light way so the nose and the outskirts remain unfeeling.

Time of recovery
The patient should remain in Cali 8 days in recovery. This time can vary depending on the recovery of each patient, and of the possible access to a certificated nurse in its place of residence that can monitor the recovery. (A smaller stopover should be approved for our doctors, and only it is recommended to people that by no motive can be a greater time in Cali)
The time of recovery of each patient depends in the type of rinoplasty and in the process of recovery of each person. But the statistics reveal us that the 85% of the swelling disappears in the first three weeks and the other 15% delays between three months and 1 year after the surgery.
After the surgery the patient will want to remain in bed while the symptoms of the anesthesia disappears.
During the first week the patient will have a device to prevent the move in the nose and some bruises will appear.
Post Operating Care
The patient should have the nose device at least during the first week. It is important that the patient incur in no physical efforts since these can enlarge the blood pressure and cause nosebleeds.
The patient should take care of the sun during the first 2 months.
